Getting To The Resorts? It's always difficult finding your way around any new city let alone finding yourself around a completely new country! As a result The Working Holiday Club has teamed up with the team at Moose Tours to help our participants not only make it safely up to their ski resort but also have one hell of a trip on their way out there! Our Moose Jumpstart Tours not only offer accommodation, transport, numerous parties, drinks & dinner/appies and heaps of sights and stops along the way but they also give participants a chance to get to spend 3-5 quality days travelling and relaxing with their fellow work mates before arriving up at the ski resorts! While many of you will not have the luxury of arriving into Canada serveral weeks before your employment contract begins to explore independently, the Moose Tours gives you this opportunity fast-tracked and it's also where many season-life long lasting relationships are made. An example of what you wil experience in our Jumpstart Tours is below but for specific tours tailored for your resort click the link and download the PDF. For Moose Jumpstart Booking you also do not need to be a Powder Program participant so feel free to give us a call or email us to Jump Aboard! DAY 1 - Welcome Party at the Beaver Pub Head into the Beaver Pub at the SameSun for tonight’s “Welcome to Canada” party! The festivities get under way at 6pm, but feel free to enjoy the atmosphere in the pub earlier than that. Your Moose Travel Network tour guide will meet you in the exclusive upstairs mezzanine in the Beaver at 6pm. This is your chance to celebrate your arrival in Canada and hang out with your fellow “Clubbers”, while enjoying appetizers and a couple included drinks. Have a good one! What You Get:
DAY 2 –Vancouver City Tour & SIN Number Sorting Before you do anything, get down to the Beaver and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast. You will start this day by getting your SIN number sorted out - not the most exciting part of your day, but it is essential to your upcoming adventures! Hopefully you have already printed and filled out your SIN Application. You need this number to legally work in Canada. Now that your application is filled out, you need to take it down to the Service Canada office to get it processed. The office is located in the Sinclair Centre (Suite 415, 757 Hastings Street West). It is walking distance from the SameSun Backpackers. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm (Mon) and 8:30 am to 4 pm (Tue to Fri). Please head down there in your free time over the next few days. You MUST have the application submitted before the Jumpstart package officially starts. Also note that it could take a while to get the application processed if there is a queue! NOTE: You must bring your Work Permit/Visa and passport with you as proof-of-identity when submitting your SIN application. It could take up to 3 weeks to receive your SIN card in the mail, but you are permitted to work right away. Once the SIN number is dealt with, get your buns back to the Beaver Pub for 10 am. Your Moose Guide will meet you there. You’ll head out on a tour of Vancouver, which will include some light walking/hiking so bring good shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. You’ll also want to bring a packed lunch. Alternatively, you will have an opportunity to buy lunch at an inexpensive café along the way, if you prefer. Then it’s back to the SameSun Lodge in the afternoon. At 6 pm, meet back in the Beaver Pub for dinner and an included drink. After dinner, you are welcome to hang out in the Beaver and hoist a few (or perhaps plenty) more drinks with your new friends! What You Get:
DAY 3 –Vancouver to Kelowna
Today the journey to your Canadian home begins. Gather in the SameSun Lobby at 8.45am where your Moose Guide will meet you. Leaving the city behind, we travel east through the Fraser Valley, stopping for a short walk in a west coast rain forest to check out Bridal Veil Falls, a 60m-high cascading waterfall with runoff from Mt. Slesse and Mt. Clemme. For lunch we head to an idyllic lake in Hope, BC. Remember Rambo First Blood? Well this is where all the famous scenes were shot! After a swim and a bite to eat, you’re going to venture through the Othello Tunnels – make sure the camera is out. From this point on you’ll be passing through the Coastal Mountains and into the much drier interior of British Columbia known as the Okanagan Valley, where there are fresh water lakes a plenty and is a Canadian summer hot-spot. When you reach Kelowna you will stay right in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the beaches, nightlife, and festivals that make Kelowna the summer city of BC. Once checked into the SameSun, you will be treated to a legendary salmon dinner that is best found here in Canada! Armed with the many options that Kelowna provides for the night, the choice is yours how you want to spend your evening. What You Get:
DAY 4 –Kelowna to Banff
Rise and shine, you’re back on the Moose bus heading towards Banff at 9.00am. As you leave the city of Kelowna you’re heading through the Okanagan Valley, where temperatures can range between 28°C and 40°C during the summer months! The valley is home to many of British Columbia’s finest wines and supplies much of the agriculture production for the province. Soon you’ll be stopping in at the beautiful Kalamalka Lake, voted one of the Top 10 Lakes of the World by National Geographic. You’re going to want to have the swimmers on for this one! Next stop, Mt. Revelstoke National Park. Revelstoke is the Outdoor Activity Capital of Canada and boats a wide range of summer and winter activities. As an add-on activity, you will have the option of kayaking in a hand made craft, with lunch included, all taken care of by your guide. If you’d rather enjoy lunch and relax by the water, or throw the Frisbee in the shadows of the world, renown, mountains, the choice is yours. After the lunch stop in Revelstoke the Rocky Mountains await, as you will be heading to Takakkaw Falls, in Yoho National Park. The Moose bus will wind its way up the tight turns that lead you to the incredible site; the third largest waterfall in Canada. You may think you’re done at this point, but not quite yet. Before you get to Banff you will stop in at the most photographed lake in Canada and quite possibly the world, Lake Louise. This is your chance to take a dip and refresh the body… we dare you! You’re not far from Banff at this point, and if you think you’re tired, you better have taken the dip. Once you check into the SameSun you will enjoy dinner and a “Banff Party!” From here on out the nightlife of Banff is yours to explore. What You Get:
