USA Resort PartnersPark City Mountain Resort - Utah Situated in Utah, only 55km east of the famous Salt Lake City, Park City Mountain Resort is a premier winter and summer ski destination. It has a varied ski terrain attracting skiers from all over the globe, as well as providing several training courses for the US ski team including slalom and giant slalom runs. The world renowned Kings Crown Superpark is found here and provides the back drop for many of todays biggest ski and snowboarding movies. However for the up‐and‐coming skier/rider, there are several other smaller parks for you to hone your skills before stepping it up. Due to its location PCMR also has the advantage of getting some incredible champagne powder during the months of January and February. Park City’s other claim to fame is hosting the annual Sundance film festival in late January, playing host to variety of celebrities and creating a huge party atmosphere for its two week duration. The party never seems to stop here with an amazing nightlife and dozens of bars, restaurants and pubs at the base of the mountain. Park City is also one of the few resorts around The States to offer night skiing. This is a huge plus for employees, as no matter when you work, you can always find time to go riding. Sierra-At-Tahoe Ski Resort - California Recognized by TransWorld SNOWboarding as a Top 10 Overall Resort, Sierra Resort is just 12 miles west of Lake Tahoe. Its 2000 acres include some amazing runs through old-growth trees as well as boasting a snowfall of 763 inches during the 2010 – 11 Winter season. Sierra at Tahoe is one of Lake Tahoe’s most family friendly resorts with some of the best beginners terrain and award winning parks as well as being home to South Shores only Superpipe. It reliably provides its guests with less icy conditions and greater wind protection than the majority of Lake Tahoe resorts. Another advantage of working at this resort is the emphasis placed upon employee development both personally and professionally. Sierra at Tahoe has a reputation in the industry for the high value it places upon its employees and endeavours to provide both a fun and challenging work experience. Homewood Ski Resort - California Rising spectacularly from the shores of the west lake, Homewood has the most amazing views out of any resort around Lake Tahoe. Although smaller in size, with only 1240 skiable acres and a vertical drop of around 1650 ft, there are many reasons why locals prefer this mountain. “From the top of the mountain looking down, it almost looks like you will ski right down into the lake,” commented past participant Simon, “the views, the people, the parties. I loved working at Homewood.” Homewood Mountain Resort is the only ski area whose lifts and runs begin within hundreds of feet of the stunning Lake Tahoe. Because of its size, Homewood doesn't have the corporate feel that many larger resorts have, this results in somewhat of a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere around the resort. The slopes are also significantly less crowded than other resorts, providing guests with a more comfortable experience and fresh powder lines right up until closing. Homewood’s sister resort Alpine Meadows is also only about 11km away. Because the same company owns these resorts, employees can enjoy staff benefits; lift passes and staff discounts on retail or food, at either resort. Homewood does not provide staff accommodation, however finding a house around the resort is relatively easy. Last year all the participants were housed within five minutes walking distance to the resort.
Alpine Meadows Ski Resort - California Positioned in North Lake Tahoe, this resort occupies 2400 skiable acres of some of the finest snow anywhere around the lake. Rising around 1000ft above tree level, or 10000ft above sea level, this resort has epic tree runs, as well as big open faces, powder bowls, cliff drops and rock shoots. This means that you can get big mountain riding, without the corporate working feel that many larger resorts have. However, if you are a beginner don’t fret. The resort has over 60% of beginner and intermediate terrain for you to ski/ride. Employees can also take part in ski or snowboard classes at the resort for free, if you are looking to improve. A huge positive advantage of working at Alpine is that it has a sister resort called Homewood, around 11km away. If you work at one of these resorts, both your lift pass and resort benefits work at either resort. Meaning that in your time off you can explore another mountain for free! Like most resorts around Tahoe, there is no on mountain lodging at Alpine, meaning that staff accommodation isn’t provided. However, there are ample housing options within a 10 minute bus ride on the resort shuttle. Both The Working Holiday Club and Alpine Meadows will provide housing assistance for you, helping you find house‐mates and suitable housing options.
